Farmer’s Market Begins this Weekend

The Farmer’s Market opens this Sunday at a new site with new vendors.

Organizers of the Winthrop Farmer’s Market have the season pretty well planned with 10 dates for the popular weekend shopping destination and a new location due to construction in the center.v

The market will operate from the Larsen Ice Rink parking lot, 45 Pauline St. from 11 a.m. two 2 p.m. instead of in French Square.

The market dates are June 18, July 2, July 16, July 30, August 13, August 27, Sept. 10, Sept. 24, Oct. 8 and Oct. 22.

Vendors for this year include SwissBakers, Ackerman Maple Syrup, Deano’s Pasta and over 20 other vendors.

Three farms have signed contracts for the season, Flats Mentor Farm, C&M Farm and Oakdale Farm according to Cathy Stacy, vice president of the Winthrop Farmers Market, which also has received its 501C non-profit status.

Other vendors will be selling vegetables, fruit, meats, cheese, jewelry, gifts, arts and crafts, and local and gourmet foods, an clothing. There will also be live music.

“We will be working closely with the chamber of commerce this year,” Stacy said. “We are also working on getting more farmers.”
