Easter Egg Hunt

Winthrop Parks and Recreation will hold a character breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Gorman Fort Banks School. Tickets are $8 in advance at the Parks and Rec and $10 at the door.

Magic Show for all on APril 19

The Winthrop Public Library presents Magic by Scott Jameson on Wednesday, April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center on Harvard Street. The event is open to all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Winthrop Public Library and the Friends of the Council on Aging and a grant from the Winthrop Cultural Council.

PARKS AND RECREATION IS HIRING SUMMER HELP

Beginning Friday, March 31st, Winthrop Parks and Recreation will have applications available for our 6 week Summer Jobs Program funded by Massport. You can pick one up at the Parks and Recreation office located at 151 Pauline St.

(rear entrance of the old middle school/high school) or download one from our website at www.winthroprec.com .

Applicants must be 16 years old by July 1, 2017 and be enrolled in a full time high school or college program. The application and any required documents must be returned no later than Monday, May 1, 2017. Please read the cover letter accompanying the application for full instructions. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

 

RABIES CLINIC

The Town of Winthrop will conduct its annual Rabies Clinic on Saturday June 11 from 9– 11 am

Bring your dog down to the old DPW parking lot behind the Methodist Church to get them vaccinated.

 

 

 

FINES FOR UNLICENSED DOGS

Beginning April 1, dogs can be fined by the Animal Control Officer if not properly licensed per MGL Chapter 140 Section 137. Residents were notified in the following ways:

  • Dog license form was included in your annual Census. This mailing went to every household in Winthrop over 12,000 homes received this census and license notification in January. • Press release on WCAT and the Winthrop Transcript. 
• Email blast sent to residents that have signed up for 
town emails – over 2000 folks currently signed up –sign 
up at http://www.town.winthrop.ma.us/subscriber 
• Licenses in 2016 clearly stated that the license was an 
annual license due again in January of 2017 
• Therefore, any dog found not to be properly licensed will be subject to a citation fee as well as a late fee. 
Please license dogs immediately online or via regular mail only. There is no ability to license Dogs in the office at this time. The online link is
