Richard Gaughan

Member of Winthrop Elks

Richard G. Gaughan of Winthrop passed away on March 9. He was 74 years old.

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, serving from 1962 to 1968. He was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078.

Richard was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. in Boston for 25 years from 1963 to1988 as a Merchandise Controller and then later went on to work for Park Shuttle and Fly in  East Boston for 25 years from 1989, retiring in 2014.

He was the devoted father of Richard G. Gaughan Jr. and his wife, Jeannette of Braintree; adored “Papa” of Cameron and Rylan Gaughan. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert Gaughan and the late Ann (Manfra) Farrell; dear brother of Robert Gaughan of Salem, NH, Dennis Gaughan and his wife, Susan of Winthrop and Joseph Gaughan and his wife, Sharon of Melrose. He is also survived by his wife (separated) Betty Gaughan of Dedham and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Sunday, March 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Raymond Otter

Retired truck driver, avid hunter and fisherman

Raymond P. Otter of Lynn, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on March 12. He was 80 years old.

Raymond was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1956 to1960. Prior to his retirement, Raymond was employed as truck driver for Itz-Ohlson Transport in Everett. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was the beloved husband of Cynthia H. (Herbert) Otter; devoted father of Virginia Otter of Revere. Born in McGregor Texas, he was the son of the late Albert and Hilda (Wiedemann) Otter; dear brother of Doris Sonnier of LouisianaA, Barbara Denton of Florida, Betty Kunze of Utah and Carol Otter, Rita Carroll, Mary Otter and Marilyn Otter, all of Texas and the late Lambert Otter, Billy Otter and Alice Cummins, all of Texas; cherished uncle of Janice, Jack and Carol Devlin and the late Billy and Jean Devlin and brother-in-law of John Herbert of Winthrop and the late Caryl Devlin.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Tuesday, March 21 at 11a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery.
