The Town of Winthrop, through the Town Manager’s Office of Grants and Economic Development, is conducting a comprehensive self-assessment survey using the Economic Development Self-Assessment Tool (EDSAT), facilitated by Northeastern University. Residents are invited to provide candid feedback during a moderated discussion about the Town’s economic development assets and related processes, including opportunities for improvement.
Catherine Tumber, Senior Research Associate from the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy at Northeastern University, will facilitate an interactive review of Winthrop’s policies, procedures, and statistics. The meeting format will cover a series of questions, along with the town’s provisional responses, that the group will review for the purpose of arriving at accurate answers. Final responses will be displayed on a screen and recorded for analysis, resulting in a 40-page report and a final PowerPoint presentation on Winthrop’s economic development profile, usually delivered within the following month.
As our Town strives to attract new economic activity and promote local business retention and growth, your participation in this important Economic Development event is critical and much appreciated. Both public officials and key leaders within Winthrop’s business and nonprofit communities will be in attendance, among others.
On Wednesday, December 14 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at the E.B. Newton Center Lyceum Room, First Floor, 45 Pauline Street, there will be a meeting to discuss this. Please RSVP to our office at 617-846-1852 ext. 1013 or to jdomelowicz@town.winthrop.ma.us.
