There Was Mike Eruzione Comedy Night

And speaking of hockey superstars, the Mike Eruzione/Winthrop Charities Comedy Night was a huge success with a large crowd attending the event Saturday night at the Winthrop Yacht Club. The comedians, Paul Gilligan, Graig Murphy, and Artie Januario — the world’s funniest pharmacist — killed it, which in comedy parlance means that they were fantastic.

It was great to see so many former WHS athletes in attendance and we wondered who was the best athlete in the room — you can start with Mike, who led the United States to a gold medal; but then’s there Vinnie Eruzione, who incredibly played three Division 1 college sports at Holy Cross; and then you had Chelsea legend Bobby Breau, who one of the best to come out of that city; but we’ll go with the Ferrara table, where former RPI hockey player Frank Ferrara and his wife, Lisa Monteleone Ferrara — arguably the greatest female athlete in school history (and the second-best basketball player, sorry Lisa) — and their daughter, Syracuse hockey player Nicole Ferrara, were seated (Nicole’s sister, former Yale hockey captain Janelle Ferrara, was not in attendance).

It was a fabulous night of entertainment and food for all those in attendance and the Eruzione family, whose Winthrop Charities had generously donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local organizations and projects.
