It was great to see popular Winthrop resident Gus Martucci in attendance at Sean Stellato’s movie and book release gala last Friday night at the Salem Waterfront Hotel. Stellato announced that Angelo Pizzo wll be the screenwriter for his book chronicling the 1994 Salem High School football season in which head coach Ken Perrone crossed the teachers’ picket line and coached the team.
Gus Martucci’s presence at the gala was another example of how Gus, in his quiet and unassuming way, is doing a good deed for someone and not expecting any recognition for it. Gus donates to numerous local causes in unsung fashion, not seeking the limelight for his generosity. Gus has been very helpful to Sean in the quest for promoting the book and bringing it to the big screen. You will recall that Sean did a book-signing at Suzanne Martucci’s Winthrop Book Depot in the center.
And there was also good news for another member of the Martucci family, brother Anthony Martucci (WHS Class of 1993), who will be inducted into the WHS Hall of Fame on Oct. 22 at a dinner at the new Winthrop High School.
Congratulations, Anthony on this well-deserved honor.
