I’d like to take a moment to share a few thoughts and thank you, my fellow citizens of Winthrop, as I reflect on my tenure as your Town Council President.
It has been my honor and privilege to have served as your Town Council President for the past four years. Thank you for the trust and confidence that you placed in me when you elected me to this office and thank you for the support and encouragement you have given to me as your Council President.
A special thank you those I will call “Team Winthrop”, my fellow councilors, other elected officials, volunteer boards and committee members, and town employees for working together with phenomenal enthusiasm and success, not only within their own departments but in cooperation with fellow town departments, boards and committees
The results speak for themselves.
The tremendous growth and improvement in Winthrop over the past few years did not “just happen” It happened because of the expertise and commitment to the improvement of our community.
And thanks to everyone else who has helped to make Winthrop a better place than it was four years ago.
We have come a long way in the past few years. I am confident that Winthrop will continue to grow and improve. Four years from now, people will again be saying “Winthrop is a better place than it was four years ago”.
If there were a Super Bowl for towns in Massachusetts, I am confident that “Team Winthrop” would be a top contender.
On a personal note, thanks to my family – my kids, my grandchildren for all their support and encouragement.
But most of all, a special thanks to my wife Maureen, for her encouragement, support, and for listening patiently as I expressed my town related concerns and pondered solutions, and for the many evenings that she spent home alone.
To all my fellow citizens of Winthrop,
Town Council President 2012-2105
