Alexander Award Presentation

Jim Marr — and what an unsung hero he is in this town — notified the Sun Transcript that the Belle Isle Rotary Club — a merger of the Winthrop, East Boston, and Revere clubs — will present the Irving P. Alexander Award to a Winthrop High football player at a luncheon Wednesday, January 13, at the Winthrop Arms Restaurant. The award is given annually to the Winthrop High senior football player who has given the most to the program in his football career.

We’re pleased to see that the Rotary members from Winthrop are carrying on the tradition of this prestigious award. We look forward to seeing Winthrop High football coach Sean Driscoll at the luncheon and hearing Sean make the presentation speech to this year’s recipient. As a former Viking gridster himself and father of a past recipient, Dylan Driscoll, Sean knows the significance of this major award.
