The Town’s swearing in ceremony will take place Jan. 4

Newly elected members of the Town Council, the School Committee, Library Trustees and Housing Authority members will be sworn into office on Jan. 4, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Cummings School Cafetorium. Friends and family are invited. Refreshments will be served.

Get your dog license

Dog licenses available for 2016. Make sure Fido is legally living in town. An application will come with the annual census to be mailed in the beginning of January. You may also download the form at http://www.town.winthrop.ma.us/Pages/WinthropMA_Clerk/index

Curious Creatures come to library

Check out some very curious creatures when they visit the library on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. Great event for the whole family. Se some beautiful, live, exotic animals in person. This is a free and popular event made possible by the Friends of the Winthrop Public Library. Call (617) 846-1703 with questions.

Mindful Eating with chef Liz Barbour

Join Chef Liz Barbour on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Winthrop Public Library. Barbour will share easy, useful cooking and shopping tip to help achieve your goals. Election workers needed

The Town Clerk is looking for election workers to work the March 1 primary. Call the clerk’s office for more information (617) 846-1852.

Coats for Kids

A Coats for Kids (& Adults) box has been placed in the WHS lobby.  WHS is a registered collection site.  Jordan’s Furniture is giving incredible prizes to top collecting schools, including brand school furniture worth $1200.00.  If you have any coats and would like to donate please feel free to drop off at Winthrop High School.
