Sue Goldstein’s Son Starts Company

The name “Sue Goldstein” is a special one in Winthrop High School sports. She was one of the first great female track athletes to emerge in the early 1980s, setting school records and continuing her brilliant career in the Division 1 UMass/Amherst program.

Sue was, in a word, fast, but she also had that competitive drive that made her one of the best-ever runners in Winthrop High history. Track stars such as Patricia McGee, Dana Stone, Helen Balaouras, Sharon Belliveau, Erica Towlson, Nicole Giaquinto, Jennie Fucillo, and others, as well as Sue, kept Winthrop’s tradition strong and helped establish Winthrop as a solid girls track program.

We’re proud to report that Josh Freedland, son of Sue Goldstein Freedland and Dr. Eric Freedland (who himself played football at Winthrop High School) has launched a new company called Brain and Body Performance of Boston, which is located in Marblehead. Josh, who played football at Marblehead High and Bates College, is working with clients to help with their mental focus for sports. He specializes in neuroplasticity training, using techniques that enhance mental skills that translate to increased success on the field.

Several professional and college sports teams use these techniques to help their athletes gain a mental edge in competition. Josh Freedland has begun to develop a following in this field and has clients of all ages. It looks like Josh is a pioneer in his own right, standing on the cutting edge of a new branch of the sports industry.

We wish Josh good luck as he begins his new endeavor.
