William Poor
Retired Public Works, Superintendent of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
William G. Poor of Portsmouth, NH,, formerly of Winthrop,, passed away September 17. He was 97 years old.
Born in Winthrop on July 21, 1918, the son of the late Joseph H. Jr., and Elizabeth A. (Taylor) Poor, he was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1936 and the Boston Naval Shipyard Apprentice School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a public works superintendent at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth; a life member of Naval Lodge #184 AF&AM of Kittery, Maine; a member of Scottish Rite Bodies Valley Portsmouth and Dover; NH Consistory 32nd degree of Nashua; Bektash Temple Shrine; NARFE; Trinity Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Hampton; and Past President of Portsmouth Country Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Martha E. Petruzzi of Portsmouth; son William G. Poor, Jr. and his wife, Kristine of Derry; daughter-in-law,, June Poor of Berwick, ME; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. William was predeceased by his wife, Priscilla (Evitts) Poor, son Robert A. Poor, brother Ralph E. Poor, grandson Brian M. Poor and son-in-law Canio D. “Ken†Petruzzi.

Maria G. Mirata of Winthrop passed away on September 10. She was the loving daughter of Maria L(Singarella) and the late Pino Mirata of Winthrop; dear sister of Jennie Lanza and her husband, Joseph, Peter J Mirata and his wife, Rachel, all of Winthrop and she is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, aunt and cousins.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Holy Rosary Church Winthrop, Services concluded with Maria being laid to rest in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Arrangements were with the personal care of Ruggiero Memorial Family Home, East Boston, 617 569 09990
