School Year Begins

The school year has begun in Winthrop and we want to wish students, teachers, administrators, and parents the best of luck and a successful 2015-16 academic year. This is the second year that our former middle school is housing students in grades 8-12, a configuration that will change when the new midde/high school opens next year. Supt. of Schools John Macero has done a great job maximizing the space options available at the former middle school and keeping the curriculum and academic programs intact as well as he could under the confines of less space. Our students also deserve credit for understanding that the situation is temporary and the opening of the new school is but 12 months away.

We especially want to wish our seniors good luck as they begin their final year in high school and start the college application process. This is a very important year for the seniors as they decide on their college or to pursue other post-graduate opportunities.

With school in session, we hope that motorists will exhibition caution as our students walk to and from school.
