Temple Tifereth Israel Open House Sunday

While synagogues in other communities such as Everett, Revere, Malden, and Salem have either closed or merged with other synagogues, Temple Tifereth Israel Winthrop marches on in a newly-renovated house of worship and with its Hebrew School program maintaining its weekly educational program for young students.  The Temple has been a place of vibrancy and good times for years. We remember fondly the Temple Brotherhood Breakfasts of years ago when community leaders such Ben Newman, Myer Brill, Dr. Benjamin Barton, and so many other longtime friends would gather for food and conversation. We remember a young Winthrop official named Bob DeLeo spending many of his Sundays at the breakfasts engaging in conversations with the members and being such a welcome guest at these gatherings. Temple Tifereth Israel has a new look and with the beautiful Feldman Seaside Apartments situated right next door, the members of Tifereth Israel can take pride in its history and its presence as a welcoming place for people of all faiths and for being an organization that does a lot for all of our residents. The Temple Sisterhood is having an Open House Sunday and invites the community to join its members for wine and cheese, both to learn about the Sisterhood and its activities and to see the beautiful place that is our community temple.
