LODGE OF ELKS TO HOST SOFTBALL GAME

The Winthrop Elks Lodge will be hosting a softball game on Sunday, August 9th at 1pm at Cellucci Field in Winthrop.

Following the game, there will be a lunch for the players back at the Lodge in the Biggio Hall.

All proceeds will be donated to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans.

SPRAYING FOR MOSQUITOS HAS BEGUN IN WINTHROP

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has notified the town of Winthrop Board of Health that a mosquito in the area of Lewis Lake have tested positive for West Nile Virus. Massachusetts Northeast Mosquito Control did begin a partial spraying of the town Monday night. The areas sprayed are as follows:

Revere Street to Winthrop Street

Winthrop Street to Washington Avenue

Washington Avenue to Veterans Road

Veterans Road to Crest Avenue

Crest Avenue back on to Revere Street

And streets in the perimeter area

Any resident having questions regarding mosquito spraying can contact the Winthrop Health Department at 617-846-1740.

ELECTIONS WORKERS WANTED

The Town Clerk’s Office is seeking qualified people to serve as Election Officers for the Town of Winthrop for the November 3, 2015 local election. Election Officers perform various clerical tasks, must report to work no later than 6:30 a.m. and must remain until the election is completed. Election Officers must be registered voters in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Breaks and monetary compensation are provided $10 per hour. Interested candidates should respond by contacting: Town Clerk Carla Vitale cvitale@town.winthrop.ma.us Election Officers are vital to maintaining free and open elections.
