Register to Vote Online

Online voter registration is now available in Massachusetts. Citizens can apply online by visiting Secretary William Galvin’s website at www.sec.state.ma.us and clicking on “Massachusetts Register to Vote Online” button to access the online application system. Any Massachusetts citizen who has a valid identification card issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles will be able to use the online system to apply to register to vote, update their address or change their party enrollment. Those without the identification can still complete the online application which they can print out, sign, mail or hand-deliver to the local election office.

It’s All About the Bees

The Friends of Belle Isle Marsh and the Tacelli Foundation will present a program “The Buzz About Bees” at the Winthrop Senior Center on Monday, July 20th at 7 p.m. Learn why bumblebees/honeybees are important, why they are dying, and how you can help save the bees. Sadie Richards Brown of the Boston Area Beekeepers Association will share her knowledge with us. Find out why “Doc” Tacelli was fascinated with bees. You will bee, too! Free and open to the public.

Art Submissions sought

Submissions are being sought for the August show at The Clock Tower Gallery E.B. Newton School & Cultural Center, 45 Pauline St. The theme is “In the Good Old Summer Time,” All mediums accepted. To register: winthropculturecouncil@gmail.com or call 617.721.4162

“Music On The Lawn” Series Resumes at the Deane Winthrop House

The Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association (WIHA) is pleased to host two more free Wednesday night concerts this summer in the beautiful yard of the Deane Winthrop House. Big Band music on July 22, and Celtic music on August 5. All concerts are from 6-8pm. Friends and families are reminded to bring lawn chairs or a beach blanket. No pets or unaccompanied minors will be admitted. Cold drinks and snacks will be available for a modest donation that benefits the Deane Winthrop House. In the event of rain, the concerts will move into the Barn.
