Check for Beach Closings

Before venturing out to your favorite beach in Winthrop check to see if it is open. During the past week Donovan’s, Pico and the lagoon at Yirrell Beach were closed due to elevated bacteria counts. The elevated readings can be a result of rainwater run-off.

Commissioner of Inspectional Services Al Legee said beach-goers with concern about water safety should call the health department at (617) 846-1740.
