Memorial Day services and a parade will take place this year on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Upper Cemetery at Bowdoin Street and River Road.
The Town of Winthrop & The American Legion Post 146 will host the ceremonies and the theme will be “A Nation that Forgets Its Heroes, Is Itself Soon Forgotten.â€
This year the Memorial Day parade has returned after skipping a few years. Staging for the parade begins at 1 p.m. at Pauline and Walden streets. The parade steps off at 2 p.m. The route runs from Pauline Street, left on Pleasant, left on River Road, ends on Cross Street. The parade will include elected officials, floats, the championship high school cheerleaders, the middle school band and more.
