It was great to see the Winthrop High School Class of 1954 gathering at the Winthrop Arms Sunday afternoon for its 60th Reunion. The reunion committee did a great job of organizing the event and everyone had a fantastic time reminiscing about their days as a student at Winthrop High School. We at the Sun-Transcript were proud to see some of “Through the Years” items about the Class of 1954 being displayed prominently on the memorabilia posters at the event.
We saw some familiar faces including our former Collector of Taxes, Jim Corkhum, and other residents who have stayed in Winthrop and raised their families here.
Winthrop Arms owner David Goll and his staff served a delicious buffet luncheon preceded by a brunch reception. The most enjoyable aspect of the reunion was seeing the many happy faces and laughs being shared by the guests, affirming that Winthrop was a special place to grow up in the 1940s and 1950s.
