ROAD WARRIORS
The piercing hot sun was over Revere Beach last Friday. Â I was enjoying lunch at Kelly’s as a\I watched forty athletes competing on the beach.
The 2014 Revere Patriots Football Team was holding a competition. Â The football team wore blue tee shirts with the tag line “ROAD WARRIORS.”
The Patriots will play their games this season on the road. Â Dellarusso Stadium is currently under construction.
The new stadium will have synthetic turf.  Dellarusso Stadium was the site of many  memorable Winthrop-Revere games.
“The Battle of the Undefeated” in 1964, with a estimated 10,000 fans. Â The Revere Patriots defeated the Winthrop Vikings 8-0. Â All-Scholastic Steve “The Tank” Adamson played for the Vikings and Jim DelGaizo played for the Patriots.
DelGaizo was the Revere quarterback. Jim was a backup QB in the NFL and played on three Super Bowl teams.
The thrilling overtime game in 2010 was won by  the Patriots. Trae Weathers scored three touchdowns for the Patriots in the victory.  Trae is a senior fullback for the Curry College Colonels.
Captain Nick McCarthy was the Vikings standout on Turkey Day. Â Nick is playing at Bentley University.
Revere officials hope to have Dellarusso Stadium finished by Thanksgiving.
The Patriots finished the 2013 campaign with a 13-7 victory over the Vikings.
Coach Lou Cicatelli’s team finished ( 3-8) and return Kaleb Silva who had a 75-yard touchdown, in the Patriots victory on Thanksgiving.
