Jenny Fucillo was a star athlete at Winthrop High and went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame with high honors. She will begin employment at an international consulting firm in Chicago in September.
Jenny is an example of an academic and athletic success story for our Winthrop school system. Following in the footsteps of her two older brothers, Anthony and James, who went on to play college football at Tufts and Catholic University respectively (James led the Vikings to the Super Bowl title in 2006, while Anthony fell just short to Gloucester on a cold and windy night at Miller Field that nullified the Vikings’ passing attack), Jenny excelled as a student and athlete in middle school and at Winthrop High. Her dream was to attend Notre Dame. Through hard work and determination, Jenny was able to realize her dream, enjoying every minute of her college experience at the prestigious institution in South Bend, Indiana.
Winthrop students can learn from Jenny Fucillo’s story of perseverance and grit and how if you work hard and perform well in high school, dreams can come true.
We wish Jenny well in her career and we hope she’ll return to Winthrop often and advise other athletes on their paths to college.
