Family Day At the Beach Set for July 12

Beautiful Yirrell Beach on Point Shirley will be the place to be for fun in the sun Saturday, July 12  for the 17th annual “Family Day at the Beach.”  In the event of rain, the event will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014.

There will be lots to do for both kids and adults, with activities, games, contests, refreshments for sale, running from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Kids will enjoy taking a dip in the wave-runner and a slip on the water-slide for $5.00 for the day. Spinning some awesome beach music will be DJ Jeff Lyons.  There will also be giveaways, games of chance for $1.00 a try, raffles, and much more.  Contests will take place all day.  The contests are free to enter and always entertaining.  The contests for the day will include; Simon Says; Water Balloon Toss; Adult Spelling Bee; Dance Contest; Three Legged Race; Winthrop’s Got Talent; Hula Hoop Contest.

The Chamber is sponsoring a raffle at Beach Day this year- 1st prize- A Weber Gas Grill and accessories, 2nd Prize- A raffle ticket to the $10,000.00 Dinner and Raffle, 3rd Prize- Two tickets to A Taste of Winthrop.

The drawing will be held during Beach Day.  Tickets are $5.00 each and are available now at The Winthrop MarketPlace, Woodside ACE Hardware, and The Winthrop Chamber of Commerce office and for sale at Beach Day up to the drawing.

This event is hosted by the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Winthrop MarketPlace.  There will be lots to do and enjoy, so be sure to bring a camera.  Special thanks to For Kids Only, Woodside Ace Hardware, and the Winthrop Fire Department, the Winthrop Police Department and Winthrop Department of Public Works for their assistance.
