Annette ‘Nettie’ Caggiano
Retired Nurse; Member of Many Organizations
Annette M. “Nettie†Caggiano of Winthrop and Delray Beach, Florida passed away in Delray Beach on March 14 after a brief illness. She was 73 years old.
Born in Brockton, the beloved daughter of Lucie (Panucci) and Cosmo Piscitelli, she was a graduate of Brockton High School and St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Brighton. After graduation, she continued to work as an operating room nurse for many years at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital; eventually reaching the position of charge nurse for the operating room. She retired over 10 years ago and spent her winters in Delray Beach, Florida which she treated as her home away from home.
She was a member of the Winthrop Emblem Club, the Cottage Park Yacht Club, the Cottage Park Yacht Club Ladies Bowling League where she served as Treasurer for many years, St. John’s Mother’s Club, St. Domenic Savio Mother’s Club and the Inner Circle of the Ancient’s and Honorable Artillery Company. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She was the devoted wife of Ernest C. Caggiano and the loving mother of Lisa Caggiano of Winthrop, E. Christopher Caggiano of Jamaica Plain, Peter A. Caggiano and his wife, Andrea of Winthrop and Rev. Mark J.T. Caggiano, Esq. of Brookline; the dear sister of Joseph Piscitelli and his wife, Joyce of Florida and Marion Jackson of Missouri and the cherished grandmother of Ariana, Peter, Jr., Nicholas and Alyssa. She is also survived by many friends in Winthrop and Delray Beach, Florida.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, March 20 from 3 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, March 21 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Interment to follow the mass in the Cross St. section of Winthrop Cemetery. Zena Ceder
Of Arizona, formerly of Winthrop
Zena (Nasher)Ceder of Peoria, Arizona passed away on March 15.
A longtime resident of Winthrop before moving to Arizona to be near her family, she was the devoted and cherished mother of Carol Tanzar, Ken Ceder, Linda Ceder and Len Ceder, all of Arizona. She also leaves five loving grandchildren: Tracy Vandervort, Dr. Jeff Tanzar, Audrey Bautista, Jason Ceder, Gabrielle Holmberg and 12 great grandchildren. She was the cherished sister of the late Selma Nasher and dear daughter of the late Max and Bessie Nasher. Graveside services were held at Zviller Cemetery, W. Wenche ‘Vanka’ Johnson
Of Winthrop
Wenche W. “Vanka†Johnson of Harborview Avenue, Winthrop passed away at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on March 12. She was 79 years old.
Born in Sweden, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ingrid (Facht) and Stellan Wollmar. She resided in Maine before moving to Winthrop eight years ago.
She was the devoted wife of the late William W. Johnson and the loving mother of Lins J. Upton and her husband, Larry of Winthrop; the dear sister of Dick Wollmer and his wife, MaryLou of New Hampshire and Stellan Wollmer and his wife, Jane of Vermont and the cherished grandmother of Mark and Kristen Upton. June (Montalto) Zirpolo of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died on Monday, March 17. She was 85 years old.
The loving daughter of the late Josephine (Piscetti) and Joseph Peter Montalto, Sr., she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Zirpolo; cherished sister of Nancy Gagin and her husband, Robert of Winthrop, Joseph P. Montalto, Jr. and his wife, Arlene of Winthrop and the late Peter Montalto; sister-in-law of Dorothy Montalto; loving aunt of Stephen R. Gagin and his wife, Grace, Joseph Montalto and his wife, Nancy, Elizabeth Sorrentino and her husband, Mark, Kathleen Souza and her husband, David, Robert A. Gagin and his wifem Nancy, Lisa Montalto, and Marc Montalto and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor June’s life by gathering for calling hours today, Thursday, March 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Vazza’s “Beechwood†Funeral Home, 262 Beach St Revere and again at 10 a.m. Friday before leaving in procession to St. John the Evangelist Church in Winthrop for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in her honor at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
