Patricia Milano, head of CASA for Community Health, will be part of an important meeting today in Winthrop concerning the increase in opioid abuse in the Chelsea-Revere-Saugus-Winthrop region and how officials can work together to reduce the number of fatal and non-fatal overdoses.
One only has to look at the headlines in the Boston newspapers to see that heroin use is increasing dramatically statewide and it’s become a major problem that must be addressed immediately by state and local officials.
We’re pleased that Pat Milano — a graduate of prestigious Yale University where she studied in the health field — and the Winnisimmet Regional Opioid Collaborative (WROC) are having this meeting in Winthrop today and that they intend to hold a community meeting on March 11 to talk about this issue and their survey on drug use.
