Bob Katz’s Nu-tread Anniversary: Resident’s Family Business Is 80 Years Old

We extend a hearty congratulations to Winthrop resident Bob Katz on the 80th anniversary of Nu-Tread Tire and Auto Center, an East Boston business that he has personally presided over for the past 32 years and that has been in the family for eight decades.

That’s a considerable run for any business and we know his many customers from Winthrop appreciate having him close by for all their tire and automobile repair needs.

We remember Bob as an offensive lineman on the 1964 Winthrop High football team that won the Northeastern Conference title. Bob was one of the key blockers who opened the lanes for the great running back, Steve “The Tank” Adamson, who went on to play for the University of Wyoming. Bob has stayed active in sports and is a pretty good golfer who enjoys playing a round at the Winthrop Golf Course.

Here’s to many more years of success at Nu-Tread at the corner of Boardman and Saratoga Streets.
