Congratulations to Katherine Clark: Winthrop’s New Congresswoman

Congratulations are in order for our new Congresswoman, Katherine Clark, who handily swept to victory over her Republican opponent, Frank Addivinola, by a 2-1 margin across the district in Tuesday’s special election.

Congresswoman Clark came to know our town and many of our residents during her campaigns in the Democratic primary and the final election. Her predecessor, now-U.S. Senator Ed Markey, was a great friend of our community who was instrumental in bringing countless improvements to the Town of Winthrop during his 36 years as our representative in Washington.

We trust that Congresswoman Clark likewise will recognize both the unique needs of our seacoast town and the needs of the country in general in the same manner which Ed Markey did during his 18 terms in office.
