Town Clerk Carla Vitale has a vital position in our town where perfection is necessary. In addition to her role as the official keeper of all town records, Vitale steps into the spotlight whenever there is an election in the town. There have been several elections over the past three years and there is still a congressional election upcoming in December. Vitale and her staff, Assistant Clerk Joanne DeMat, and Senior Clerk Charlotte Fobert – and let’s not forget Registrar of Voters Claire Hubbard – did an outstanding job planning and coordinating the Nov. 5 town election that drew a huge turnout to the polls.
There are many responsibilities in the days leading up to an election where residents are voting for the most important town position of council president and the added magnitude of the school referendum. Election Day on Nov. 5 was Carla’s Super Bowl and she ran an impeccable election that was beyond reproach.
Carla has always wanted to stay in the background and quietly do her job to the best of her ability, but we’re sure Winthrop residents appreciate the high caliber of her work and know that the Winthrop election matched the professional standards that have been set throughout the capable administration of Town Manager James McKenna.
Thank you, Carla, for a job well done.
