Aetna Insurance Retiree; Active in Jewish and Community Affairs
Dorothy (Marks) Bialer of Winthrop died on August 3. She was 81 years old.
She graduated from the University of Bridgeport and after having her two daughters, she had a career working for Aetna Insurance for over 20.
Always active in both Jewish and community affairs, she was a life member for the local Hadassah chapter holding many significant positions and received a multitude of awards, including Woman of the Year. She also was involved in the Historical Society and Senior Center volunteering many hours of her time. She was an avid Red Sox fan and fulfilled her lifelong dream of having the Red Sox win a World Championship.
She was the loving mother of Donna Dankner and her husband, Robert Dankner of Westborough, and the late Michele Goldberg and her husband, Allen Goldberg of Holliston; cherished grandmother of Elizabeth, Ilana, Jessica, Seth, Alyssa, and Janna; dear daughter of the late Jacob and Ida Marks of Gloucester; beloved sister of Wilfred Marks and his wife, Marjorie of Gloucester and Sarasota, Florida and the late Melvin Marks and his wife, Marion of Worcester; special aunt of Scott Marks and his wife, Rhonda of Peabody and John Marks and his wife, Cheryl of Gloucester, Fred Marks and his wife, Geraldine of Worcester and the late Janine Profenno and her husband, Arthur of N. Grafton.
Graveside Services were held Tuesday, August 6, at Rabbi Isaac Elchonon Cemetery, Everett. Memorial observance was held following burial and on Tuesday and Wednesday.
