We learned from a presentation at the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting by James P. Roberston of Origen Property and Jason Robertson (no relation) of The Gralia Group that the new assisted living residential community on the site of the former Winthrop Hospital will be known as The Arbors at Winthrop.
It was certainly an impressive talk by Jason Roberston, who told Chamber members about his family’s work in the elder care industry and how each of the company’s assisted living complexes are great communities with a common area, dining room, fitness center, library, media room, and other great amenities. There will be many assisted living services offered at the new facility, including exercise programs and medication management, all under one roof.
Robertson also said that in his experience, many people from the town where the assisted living centers are built choose to live in the assisted living centers, which means that many of our Winthrop seniors can begin to consider the Arbors at Winthrop as a place to reside.
Town Manager James McKenna and Town Councilor James Letterie have been in contact with Origen Property and The Gralia Group officials throughout the process and our local boards have been cordial, professional, and receptive to what will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood and the former hospital property that will beautify the whole area, not to mention the important service it will provide for residents of the assisted living residential community. We also would note that the project will bring needed tax revenue to the town without impacting the schools.
