The inventory of Winthrop’s local food pantry has been diminished due to the
holiday season. The food pantry is very helpful to those families in need especially
around the holiday season. Now the shelves need to be restocked and the Winthrop
Police Explorer Post 99 is holding the “Stuff the Wagon†food drive as a way to give
back to the community and support the local food pantry. We are looking for any
and all nonperishable items such as canned and dry box goods. There will be
designated locations around town to drop off donations such as The Winthrop
Market Place and the police station and on February 2nd
at French Square in
Winthrop Center, the Explorers will be collecting donated goods from 9am until
3pm. There will also be a door-to-door pick up service that one can request by
calling the Winthrop Police Dept. at 617-846-1212 and giving the address where the
goods can be picked up. All donations are greatly appreciated and encouraged. For
more information call the Winthrop Police Dept. at 617-846-1212 and ask for
Lt. Scarpa.
