Congratulations are in order for head coach Tracey Martucci and the WHS girls soccer team on their run in the MIAA State Tournament that came to an end Tuesday with a 2-0 loss to St. Mary’s of Lynn.
It’s always tough when a season ends abruptly in the single-elimination State Tournament, but the Winthrop girls can be proud of their season, especially the seniors who wore the Viking uniform proudly for the past few years. The Lady Vikings won two tourney games in convincing fashion to advance to the quarterfinal round and showed that they were one of the top teams in Division 3 this season.
The girls’ program has been very solid under Coach Martucci’s setwardship and we look forward to more accomplishments in the years ahead.
