End of an Era: Brothers Restaurant Owners Sell Business

For 41 years the Bitopoulos family – George and Nancy and Nick and Dee Dee – have owned and operated Brothers Restaurant, a landmark business on Revere Street. But now they are selling the business and they will be serving their customers for the last time next Wednesday. It truly is the end of an era, a story about hardworking people who learned early on that when you provide great food at good prices with friendly, courteous service and get to you know your customers – people will come back to your restaurant time and again

. You always felt comfortable at Brothers, knowing it would be there each day and you would see familiar faces. The New England boiled dinner was in a class by istelf. not to mention all the other menu fare – and of course, Nancy’s famous mousaka dish. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, you could always depend on Brothers Restaurant to serve you a hot, delicious meal with a smile.

The Bitopoulos family made a tremendous impact on the lives of Winthrop residents for two generations. Children that came in to Brothers Resataurant with their parents to enjoy a meal are now bringing their children in to the restaurant.

It’s notable that when Nancy Bitopoulos was interviewed for this week’s story in the Transcript, the message she wanted to get out to Winthrop residents was “thank you” for all your support through the last 41 years.

And to that, we say thank you Nancy and George and Nick and Dee Dee for being a great family and making us feel so welcomed in your restaurant. You did a great job.
