Christmas Concert and Two Fairs Highlight Weekend Events

Winthrop residents who are looking for a way to get into the holiday spirit early this year can start this weekend with a holiday concert and two holiday fairs to keep them busy.

Both St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Winthrop Senior Center are sponsoring holiday fairs on Saturday, December 3.

Snowflake Fair

The St. John’s Episcopal Church Snowflake Fair will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature handmade crafts, food, gifts, raffles and more. The luncheon will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include lobster rolls and chowder and other offerings.

Local shoppers who want to find a unique, handmade gift for someone on their shopping list, can take in the fair and see what they have to offer without having to travel out of town.

The One Stop Shop

Not too far away, the Winthrop Senior Center will also be the site of a holiday fair as the One Stop Shop event will feature gifts from 35 vendors who will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The list of vendors is too big to include here, but can be obtained through the Senior Center and the One Stop Shop will also feature food and raffles and will also offer folks a chance to have their photo taken with Santa Claus.

Playmakers’ Christmas Concert

For those who like to find their holiday spirit before they go shopping, the Winthrop Playmakers’ Christmas Concert is a perfect way for folks to enjoy the sounds of the season, without heading into downtown Boston and dealing with the crowds and high prices.

The concert entitled, “Where Are You Christmas?” is directed by Playmakers’ President Nick Raponi and will have three performances including December 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase on line at www.winthropplaymakers.com or by calling 617-539-1175.
