Happy Rosh Hashanah: Local Jewish Community is Active and Vibrant

We want to wish our Jewish friends in the community a happy and healthy new year.  Rosh Hashanah began Wednesday night, celebrating the Jewish Year 5772.

Winthrop has an active and vibrant Jewish community and at Temple Tifereth Israel there are plans to build senior residences and either renovate or build a new place of worship on the existing site. We know that Temple President Sandra Pellegrino and the members of the congregation are excited about the plans being undertaken with the Chelsea Jewish Foundation.

In addition to the services being held at Temple Tifereth Israel in observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we should note that Congregation Tifereth Abraham on Shirley Street has a High Holiday schedule.

Rabbi Amihai Zippor, formerly of Winthrop and now living in Jerusalem, will be leading the services there to usher in the new year.
