Police Blotter 09-08-2011

Monday, Aug. 29

1:34 a.m. Caller reports a van parked wrong way on Pearl Avenue.

8:52 a.m. Traffic citation issued on Waldemar Avenue to an individual for having an unregistered motor vehicle.

8:56 a.m. Traffic citation issued on Buchanan Street to an individual for having an unregistered motor vehicle.

3:38 p.m. – Caller from Shirley Street reports a suspicious black truck in the area. Police report unable to locate described vehicle.

5:09 p.m. – Reports of loud music coming from Locust Way address all day. A Winthrop Police officer arrives and restores peace in the situation.

7:58 p.m. – There are a few small groups in the area of the basketball courts but no problems are reported.

Tuesday, Aug. 30

12:20 a.m. – Reports of several cars with lights on in the parking lot on Governors Drive and the occupants being noisy. Officers respond to the scene and report that there is nothing showing.

12:31 a.m. – A series of directed patrols begin. During one at 1:52 a.m., a person driving a motor vehicle is sent out of the area at Halaford Beach/Nahant Avenue.

6:38 p.m. – A caller from Lincoln Street reports a tree by his driveway has a split in it and is leaning near the wires. Fire Department is notified.

7:50 p.m. – 9:41 p.m. – Traffic citations are issued to motor vehicle operators on Revere Street, Veterans Road, Pleasant Street and Main Street for the following separate violations: red light violation (1), speeding (3), headlight (4).

Wednesday, Aug. 31

1:31 a.m. – A directed patrol is conducted at the basketball courts on Walden Street and the area is reported as quiet.

3:08 p.m. – Several calls of a large dorsal fin in the water off of Yirrell Beach. Fire reports contacting harbormaster.

9:11 pm. – Caller from Shirley Street reports a group hanging out in the vicinity of the door and the business is closed. Officers respond and report area is clear.

11:12 p.m. – Female reports kids on cars on Veterans Road. Officer located them and sent them on their way.

11:33 p.m. – Traffic citations issued after a female caller reported that there are motor vehicles racing by Bayview at the park and there is also a gold car.

Thursday, Sept. 1

12:11 a.m. – Winthrop Center officer reports sending a group out of the area.

10 a.m. – Traffic citation issued to a motor vehicle operator for driving 50 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone on Washington Avenue at Willow Avenue.

11:45 a.m. – Party reports an abandoned bicycle in the area. Officer secured the old green bike with a rusted out basket.

2:58 p.m. – Several calls of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Hagman Road at Pauline Street. WFD and EMS notified. Officer reports two individuals in custody.

Friday, Sept. 2

3:07 a.m. – Directed patrols initiated and continue for approximately one hour and all areas are reported as quiet.

11:03 a.m. – Party from Trident Avenue reports a black Lexus with tinted windows idling with a subject inside for an extended period of time. A search of the area is conducted.

12:21 p.m. – A party from Fairview Street reports her house was broken into. Officer responds and requests a lifting of possible fingerprints left by the subject at the scene.

12:57 p.m. – Party from Marshall Street reports a syringe in the gutter behind a black car. Officer reports to the scene.

1:04 p.m. – Party from Bates Avenue reports her door appears to have been smashed in. Officers report no entrance gained. Appears to be an act of vandalism at this time.

2:04 p.m. Two motor vehicle operators were stopped and cited for speed greater than reasonable and proper on Pleasant Street.

3:00 p.m. – Off duty officer reporting a stop sign violation on Bowdoin Street at Cross Street. He will follow up with a traffic citation via U.S. Mail.

3:25 p.m. – Report of teens drinking in the upper cemetery who have now fled in different directions. Officers had four male juveniles leave the area. Unable to connect them with any alcoholic beverage use. All given a no trespass notice.

10:41 p.m. through Saturday, Sept. 3 at 1:16 a.,m. – Traffic citations are issued for speeding (3), light violation, stop sign violation (2), and headlight violation to motor vehicle operators on Shirley Street, Pleasant Street (2), Main Street, and Revere Street.
