A Win-win-win: Temple Tifereth Projects Benefits Everyone

There has been universal support from the Town Council and residents for the Chelsea Jewish Foundation’s proposal to build new senior housing and a new synagogue at the current location of the Temple Tifereth Israel on Veterans Road. Anyone who has seen the beautiful, well-landscaped buildings the Foundation has constructed in the city of Chelsea will understand why this project will be a welcome one in Winthrop.

The synagogue membership has dwindled over for the past two decades and the building itself is certainly in need of cosmetic improvements. Temple President Sandra Pellegrino and the building committee have found a great partner in Chelsea Jewish Foundation administrator Adam Berman and his organization who no doubt will create a building and a site that will make Winthrop proud.

If you can get over to Admiral’s Hill in Chelsea and see the state-of-the-art facilities that they have built in that city, you’ll understand why the residents in the Veterans Road/Shirley Street area will be quite pleased when the project is completed.

Town Manager James McKenna and the Council deserve a lot of credit for being receptive and welcoming to the Foundation and recognizing that this project will be a positive step forward for our seniors and the community at-large, not to mention all of our Jewish friends who are members of the congregation at Temple Tifereth Israel.
