The appointment of Bobbie Finocchio to the position of Principal of the Cummings Elementary School certainly is a bold move by new Superintendent of Schools John Macero.
Finocchio, at age 29, was one of the youngest of the candidates to apply for the position. But there is no question that she is a very capable educator and will make the most of the opportunity. Finocchio knows the town well and has a great rapport with her colleagues and the school parents. We’re confident she will excel in her new position.
Bobbie is a Winthrop product, having graduated from Winthrop High before going on to Regis College where she played two college sports. She has taught special education at the school for six years and has been a mentor to other teachers.
Finocchio’s appointment follows on the heels of Lisa Howard’s appointment as assistant superintendent of schools. We have to say that it is nice to see our own WHS graduates returning to the school system in such important roles.
