We’re glad to see that the Town Council is heeding the advice of Councilor-at-Large Philip Boncore and ap
other councilors in trying to appoint a new clerk of the town council in short order. It’s clear that the council has missed the presence of a clerk at the council meetings, an absence that also has made clear the importance of the position in executing the council’s regular business.
In this age of immediacy and multiple means of communication, Winthrop residents expect council functions and the historical chronicling of meetings and other issues to be readily available. The position of council clerk contributes to the overall efficiency and professionalism of our top governmental board and we look forward to welcoming a new council clerk soon.

If the Turco Council is so concerned about providing town residents with records of their comedy club sessions azs well as their dithering and thitherings, one has to consider reasons the first Council Clerk departed in shorter order than a diner omelet. Is it perhaps that the demands the marvelous 9 put on the holder of the position for the short money offered? Or is it that the demands by the marvelous 9 are more than any amount of money can pay for? Maybe one of the marvelous 9 should play clerk of the werks.
