JOSEPH PACI

Winthrop Police this week released a wanted poster featuring the photograph of a Winthrop man, who is now wanted in connection with a recent rash of daytime break-ins in the Court Road area.

According to Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty, police are looking for Joseph Paci, 36, of 35 Court Road who is  also known to frequent 2 Nancia Street, Apartment 7 in Winthrop.

“Thanks to some physical evidence recovered at the scenes and some good police work, we are now searching for this suspect – Joseph Paci – in connection with at least two of the break-ins,” said Chief Delehanty. “This is still an active investigation, so we can not divulge details of the case, but we have obtained a warrant for his arrest from East Boston District Court.

Anyone with information regarding Joseph Paci or his potential whereabouts is encouraged to contact Winthrop Police at 617-846-1212 or the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) at 617-343-4328.

Last week, Chief Delehanty warned residents to make sure that their homes were locked and secured before leaving, as a rash on break-ins had occurred when the suspect had gained entry through unlocked doors.

“This is just a reminder for people that they really should make sure their homes are locked, when they are away,” said Delehanty. “Also, if anyone sees suspicious activity, someone standing on a neighbor’s porch that doesn’t belong there, for instance, please call 911 and alert the police.”

Despite the break in the case that has led police to search for Paci, and ask for the public’s help in apprehending him, Chief Delehanty stressed that homeowners and residents must remain vigilant and ensure their homes and personal property are safe before leaving for the day.

  • What does "some physical evidence" mean? Do they have fingerprints? If so just say that in the article. There were no witnesses, and they didn't mention any informants either. What happened to being innocent until proven guilty? The Joe Paci I know would never break into someones home. Chief Delahany needs to tighten up this case before he goes ahead and plasters Joe's face on the front page of the Transcript, but hey he's not the first innocent person to be publicly humiliated by the police blotter, or the Winthrop Trancript. Some things never change.

    •   Everyone in Winthrop knows Joe is a junkie and is actively using heroin and stealing. This has been going on for nearly 20 years. Stop defending him. This is why he never gets clean. He has other actively using alcoholics and drug addicts in Winthrop co-signing on his nonsense over and over again. Stop telling him what a good guy he is. He's not. He's a complete dirtbag right now.
He has been in plenty of programs and always walks away because he doesn't like the program. The bottom is that in private Joe really only cares about Joe and everything else is just a phony act.

  • From the Police Blotter: 1:08 p.m. — Units respond to a Lowell Road residence, where a resident is reportedly fighting with someone he found breaking into his home. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.  Joey was caught in the act.  I pray that someday he gets the help he needs.  He was such a good kid!

  • I have evidence that the Winthrop Police are issuing $280 tickets to anyone parking within walking distance of a handicap ramp. Can we put up pictures of the offending officers?

  • I'm sure the person who's house he broke into knew it was him. He's lived in the maze his whole life. Good kid or not, drugs or whatever do a number on someone.. Hope they find him, and he gets help

  • I hope when they catch him they put him in a program instead of prison, If they send Joey back to jail he is going to get his Masters degree in Crimnal Behavior.  A clean and sober  Joe Paci will give you the shirt off his back.  Its drugs that fuel these actions and he really needs some help.  You hear that Cheif Delahanty?  You have known Joe since he was a kid and now you go and plaster his face all over the paper because he "ALLEGEDLY." broke into a few houses in the Maze???   Maybe you should take a look at who has been flooding Winthrop with heroin and cocaine.  But you have a job to protect and you will keep denying that there is a drug problem in Winthrop.

  • In the police report the victim described the perpetrator as being 6 feet tall. Apparently one of the drugs Joey's taking is Miracle-Gro.

  • joe paci is the man....known him all my life.......i was reading other peoples comments......ive had my share of arrests and prison and the police and the transcript blow it out of proportion.....in 2007 there was a front page article that i was breaking into cars and i wasnt.....but did they publish that i was found not guilty...so dont judge joe paci.....winthrop is just boring and everyone is nosy so mind ya business....ive been to prison several times but every arrest in winthrop which there were alot i was found not guilty on 15 of my 21 arrests in winthroop....so once u have a target on your back the winthrop police target u, just like joe paci, mike tear, doug bitopolaus, and i could name alot more.....what i find is funny to now in the police blotter they dont write peoples name when they get arrested....but on july 22 a week after i got out of prison i was walking home from getting cigarettes and was approached by officer freeman and he handcuffed me and smashed my face off the concrete and i filed a report and talk to frank scarpa.....but of course never heard from the chief.....useless.....this police dept is so unqaulified its crazy my papa was a boston cop 4 40 yrs and hes knows it.....but that incident with officer freeman i was placed into protective custody not charged cause im older now and dont act crazy and im sober...but i guess the police and transcript have it out for me cause my name was published in the police blotter for protective custody weird huh? so i dont care about the transcript i dont buy it i dont care about the winthrop police department if any of the cops in winthrop worked in southie or dorchester or charlestown they would b wetting themselves begging to be transfered back to winthrop.......i dont respect cops or correction officers....cops only when they catch a sex offender, so back to joe paci hes innocent and the transcript should b able to write the stuff they write just for a story...cause i didnt see all my not guiltys in the transcript your allc shallow human beings and someday your kids r gunna get into drugs and then ill b laughing cause all kids r gettin g high...so karma is a bitch and the cops no i azint scared to go to prison ive done 7yrs so ill speak my mind freedom of speech....so to the transcript leave paci alone hes a great kid and whens hes found innocent i challenge u to print it but u wont cause it makes u cowards look bad.....and to the police i got nuthin 2 say except lol lol lol there sumthing.........so joe paci is great  i talk to him on the phone and in letters from the jail....so justice for joe paci!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sincerely BRIAN DONAHUE

  • I visit Joey Paci on a regular basis in jail and hes put himself in the best possible posistion that a prisoner could be in.Hes in a block that only holds select, model prisoners. He works full time, attends school, and participates in substance abuse programs. He makes the maximum amount of good time and is a lock for parole, very soon,as long as he keeps this up.Most prisioners do NOTHING with their time. Its a vacation for them, where they can forget all their responsibilities. These are Facts. Most of the "comments" on here are irresponsible and nothing but GOSSIP.Not that I exspect anything different from the airheaded population of Winthrop.FACTS;Joe broke the law and was ready to except the consiquences. Then a rash of break ins happen while hes on bail.FACTS:The 1 witness that saw the actual perpertrator said he was"a 6'1, 240lb male".If you know Joe then you know that description couldn't be more off.FACTS;Fingers prints were found in mutiple houses that were robbed. The prints all came from the same person.I walked Joe into court to turn himself in cause he wanted his prints compared immidiatly. He was taken into custody, printed, and was eliminated as the source of the prints.FACTS;Joe was documented as being in the Mass General Hospital the 2 nights before he turned himself in.During that time another robbery occured in the same area, with the same m.o..FACTS;Joe agreed to plead guilty to his 1st case and take his time.Winthrop Police and the district attorney gave him the option to plead guilty to the robberys also and he'd get a much lighter sentence.Their was NO physical evidence, except the prints that would of cleared him,NO circumcenal evidence, beside the fact that he lives in the area of the robberies, and every witness they had could not identify Paci.So he was forced to cop to crimes he did not commit,so the case would be closed and the Winthrop Police could say that the case was solved. What people on here should be worried about is the fact that the real perpertrator is still out and the Winthrop Police are turning their heads.Anyone calling Joe a "junkie"or a "scumbag",I can guarentee has had their own history or had someone close to them that went through the same shit.Your big mouth, punks
