The 42nd Annual Winthrop Art Association Spring Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at the Winthrop Senior Center, featuring a juried arts competition and free viewings of dozens of local artists in nine different mediums.

“The annual arts festival usually features about 50 or 60 artists and a number of original crafters,” explained WAA Vice President Dawn Mahoney. “This year’s show is very exciting as we have a number of new artists exhibiting their work and two very accomplished judges in Jeff Fiorvaranti and Ian Factor, both successful artists in their own rights.”

The times for the festival are 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, with a reception for the artists and their works from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Art will be displayed throughout the Senior Center, both for exhibition to the public and for sale by the artists.

Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third places, in 12 awards, and several first place prizes also include either $25, $35 or $50 cash, based on the award.
