12:27 a.m. — Joseph McDermott, 21, of Winthrop, was arrested on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police.
2:55 a.m. — Units respond to Nevada Street on a noise complaint. Four adults are asked to go indoors.
7:12 a.m. — Connecticut State Police request WPD ask a Winthrop resident to contact authorities about a “larceny from one of the casinos.†WPD is unable to locate the subject.
9:36 a.m. —An Elmwood Avenue resident reports her driver’s side tires were slashed sometime the previous night. The damaged rubber will cost a lot of dough to replace, as the resident estimated the damage at $400.
10:33 a.m. — WPD and EMS respond to Winthrop Street, where a woman appears to be passed out. She said she was resting and refused any assistance.
11:08 a.m. — An Almont Street resident reports her property was damaged by an unknown motor vehicle sometime on Sunday. Officers locate the driver, and all the necessary paperwork was exchanged.
1:31 p.m. — Officers ask a man near the public stairs on Cliff Avenue to cover up his thong swimwear. WPD has received a string of such complaints in recent weeks.
1:32 p.m. — A good Samaritan brought an LG Tracfone into the station for safekeeping.
4:58 p.m. — Officers disperse a group of four kids from the entrance of Governor’s Drive.
8:01 p.m. — The mother of a 12-year-old girl reports a case of harassment involving a 15-year-old boy. Officers will talk to the boy.
September 7
9:29 a.m. — File under Good News and Bad News: A Main Street resident calls to report his car was stolen. He was informed that the car was not stolen; rather, it was towed for being unregistered.
12:26 p.m. — A Wave Way Avenue resident reports she was threatened by “four youths she discovered on her porch.â€
12:33 p.m. — A mother reports that her daughter and two friends are not at the park, which is where they said they would be. Units locate the calls at Haddassah Way and Veterans Road, where the mother will pick them up.
1:21 p.m. — The ACO is notified of two reports of sick/rabid raccoons, one on Johnson Avenue, the other at Seal Harbor.
2:20 p.m. — Parties from both sides of a dispute involving a parking ticket that was issued by the Winthrop Housing Authority on Golden Drive filed reports at the Police Station.
3:49 p.m. — Units respond to the CVS on Woodside Avenue, where the store manager apprehended a juvenile for shoplifting.
4 p.m. — A Main Street resident reports a past B&E
7:12 p.m. — Officers issue a warning to a group pf kids on the area of Tileston Road after a caller complains of “popping sounds,†possibly fireworks.
7:18 p.m. — ACO responds to Franklin Street to deal with a “sick looking†skunk.
7:44 p.m. — The ACO moves a healthy raccoon out of harm’s way on River Road.
9:09 a.m. — A resident reports his daughter is receiving threatening e-mails. An officer talked to the other party, who agreed to stop the e-mailing.
September 8
6:35 a.m. — A caller reports a tire was dumped inside Hanaford Park overnight.
7:52 a.m. — A home on Shirley Street suffered damage to its chimney and roof after it was struck by lighting.
10:08 a.m. — An Ingleside Avenue resident reports her car was side-swiped overnight. She is advised to file a claim with her insurance company.
10:20 a.m. — A woman came into the Police Station to report her credit card number was stolen and used for to purchase a cell phone. The matter will be investigated by her credit union.
11:52 a.m. — A Pleasant Street resident reports a possible e-mail scam that uses the IRS as a ruse to obtain personal information.
1:15 p.m. — A Wilshire Street resident reports the theft of two concrete planters valued at approximately $75 each. It is not known who the dirt ball is who committed this theft.
6:15 p.m. — Units respond to a shoplifting call at the CVS on Woodside Avenue. The manager allegedly chased after the suspect, who eventually got away.
September 9
Michael Gordon, 25, of Winthrop, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and authority under 209-A after WPD responds to a call on Lowell Road.
7:40 a.m. — A Bartlett Road resident reports that someone “rummaged†through his car overnight. The thief was apparently choosy, as nothing was missing.
8:04 a.m. — A party reports a rabid skunk outside a laundry business on Shirley Street. No word on whether the animal wreaked havoc on any garments.
8:41 a.m. — An Egleton Park resident reports that an iPod and several CDs were stolen from his unlocked car. Remember, the words “unlocked car†are music to a thief’s ears.
10:45 a.m. — A detail officer reports that someone drove around a series of cones placed on a newly paved surface on Woodside Avenue. The DPW will determine if any damage was done, and if any follow-up action needs to be taken against the driver.
September 10
1:03 a.m. — A caller reports that two people are arguing in front of her home on Fremont Street. An officer talks to the subjects, who left the area.
9:38 a.m. — School officials are notified that someone will be taking photographs of Fort Banks on behalf of the DPW, following a report of a suspicious person in the area. The photographer will also take photos of Governors Park.
9:54 — The stop sign at Pond Street, near Hanaford Park, has been knocked down.
10:03 a.m. — Dean Kapsalis, 43, of Hudson, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a Cambridge probation officer requested warrant service for a bracelet violation.
1:24 p.m. — A caller reports a man is exposing himself and urinating in public on Shirley Street, but no one is around when units respond.
3:33 p.m. — Units dispose of a needle found on Brookfield Road, Ingleside Park.
11:25 p.m. — Christine Cochrane, 52, of Winthrop, was arrested on a charge of A&B with a deadly weapon after units respond to a disturbance on Governors Drive.
September 11
12:40 a.m. — A woman reports she was “spit on†by a man, but a short time later she says nothing happened and all is OK.
12:44 a.m. — Units quiet down a part on Beacon Street.
2:23 a.m. — Officers send in a group of partiers on Locust Street.
12:14 p.m. — The ACO is notified of a sick raccoon wandering around a property on Bartlett Road.
1:03 p.m. — A woman alleges that a taxi driver picked up her 13-year-old son at a school in Boston and, instead of coming straight to Winthrop, picked up a fare in Lexington before dropping off her son. She is advised to contact the cab company.
11:13 p.m. — Vadim Kuriko, 24, of Winthrop, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and authority under 209-A.
11:55 p.m. — Officers ask a group of partiers on Hermon Street to head inside for the night.
11:57 p.m. — Officers respond to Shirley Street, where a landlord and tenant are arguing. They are advised of their rights.
September 12
1:40 a.m. — A group of kids is dispersed from Massa Playground.
12:01 p.m. — A Sagamore Avenue resident reports a suspicious vehicle is parked across the street from his home. The car was registered to a resident who lives nearby.
6:21 p.m. — A caller reports a Rotweiller is roaming the streets in the area of Atlantis Marina.
