Chief Flanagan traveled to Washington with fifteen members of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs to meet with the Massachusetts delegation.
The message they brought to both Congressmen and Senators was to continue to support federal funding to the fire service.
During the visit to Washington the chiefs had breakfast in the Library of Congress with the Massachusetts delegation. Chief Flanagan stressed the financial needs of smaller departments are as important as those of larger departments.
Chief Flanagan stated the Fire Department currently has Federal Grants in the review process, and the opportunity to meet with the Delegation face to face was critical in seeing these grants to a successful conclusion.
The trip was sponsored by the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association.
