Sarah Medros

Member of Hadassah, the Walnut Street Shule and many other organizations

Sarah G. (Leverant) Medros died on April 26 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was 89 years old.

Born in Boston, she lived in Chelsea for most of her life. She was educated in the Chelsea schools and was a graduate of Chelsea High. She was a homemaker, a member of Hadassah, the Walnut St. Shule and many other charitable and religious organizations.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Medros; the devoted mother of Edward Medros and his wife, Ruth; the loving grandmother of Adam and Jonathan and the loving great grandmother of Nathan and Sadie.

Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea today, Thursday, April 29, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lynn. Memorial week will be private. James Rowe Fowlie

Engineer, sales manager

James Rowe Fowlie of Tampa, Florida died on April 22. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Fowlie was born in Boston, graduated from Wentworth Institute and attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I. He was a Mason at the Excelsior Lodge in Franklin, Mass.

Mr. Fowlie was part of the team that designed the Control System for the first Linear Accelerator in the United States. Later in his career he worked as a Controls Engineer and then as a Territorial Sales Manager in the heating and air conditioning industry. He was also a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Tampa and a veteran of the US Army Air Corps from 1947 to 1950.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marilyn Fowlie of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Victoria Graves and her husband, John, of Temple Terrace, Fla.; sister, Sue Budreau and her husband, William, of Winthrop; grandchildren, Nathan and Alexandra Gardner and Andrew and Rebecca Graves.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 2 at Grace Episcopal Church, 15102 Amberly Drive, Tampa, Fla., 33647. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music ministry at Grace Episcopal Church. Words of comfort may be expressed at www.blountcurryterraceoaks.com.

 

Virginia McKeough

Retired Private Nurse

Virginia E. (Payne) McKeough of Overlook Drive, Winthrop died on April 23 at the Lighthouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Revere. She was 97 years old.

Mrs. McKeough was a private nurse for many years and worked for the Medical Personal Pool in Massachusetts.

She was born in Winthrop, the daughter of the late John L. Payne and Aimee E. (Putnam.) She was the beloved wife of the late George W. McKeough; sister of the late Raymond "Ducky" Payne, Ralph L. Payne, Arthur Payne, Jackie Payne and Thelma Woods. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop. Burial was in Winthrop Cemetery.

 

Stephen Forgue

Winthrop resident

Stephen R. Forgue of Winthrop, formerly of South Boston, died on April 20.

He was intellectually disabled and worked for many years at the community workshop. He enjoyed shopping at the mall and especially loved camping and trips to Disney World. He was a kindly and generous person, and all who knew him often said he was a gentleman. He will be greatly missed.

He was the beloved brother of Priscilla Dalrymple and her husband, Charles, Lorraine Smith and Dennis Forgue.

His funeral was private.

 

Anthony Alba, MD, 92

Retired Opthalmologist

Anthony Alba MD of Revere, formerly of Winchester and Winthrop, died on April 20. He was in his 92nd year.

A retired opthamologist and eye surgeon in Woburn, he was a member of the Mass Medical Society and the US Naval Reserves.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine M. (D’Amore) Alba with whom he shared 50 years of marriage; cherished son of the late Biagio and Cologera (Montalbano) Alba; loving father of Beverly Alba of Winthrop, Cynthia Alba and Bruce Alba, both of Saugus, and the late Mark Alba; dear brother of the late Mary Alba King; cherished grandfather of Laura and Russell Alba and uncle of Santa Amico of Fitchburg.
