Town election heating up – Another candidate announces for Council President

The election season is heating up in Winthrop. A second candidate, Jeffrey R. Turco, has declared his intention to run for the position of Town Council President. Mr. Turco joins Barbara Survillas in the race and there may be more candidates as the deadline approaches to submit the 150 signatures necessary to get on the ballot.

Both Turco and Survillas have begun their campaigns in what is already shaping up as an exciting election. Council president is a very powerful and influential position in the new form of town government. The Sun Transcript will keep our readers tuned in to all of the campaign news leading up to the November 3, 2009 election.
