Perhaps the biggest news of the week was the announcement by Council Vice-President Joseph Ferrino Jr. that he will not be seeking re-election to the Town Council. Joe has been a part of town government for many years. He has served on a number of boards in various capacities, including the former Board of Selectmen. When the town turned to devise a new form of government, Joe was very visible in the process.
Ferrino has served on the Council with professionalism and has brought credit to himself and his family with his serious, hard-working approach to his responsibilities.
He always has been accessible to the voters and willing to listen to all sides of an issue. In addition, Joe was not afraid to ask the tough questions and speak out on issues that he believed in.
We know we speak for all of our fellow townspeople in acknowledging that Joe Ferrino has been an outstanding town councillor and public servant, as well as offering our thanks and gratitude for the valuable contributions that he has made to the town during a long and distinguished career in local government.
