Dalrymple recommendation
Council President Thomas Reilly earlier this week informed the council that he intends to make a recommendation at tonight’s meeting that Equivise be designated as the developer for the Dalrymple site. He also told councilors that the New Hampshire developer, who has proposed demolition of the old Dalrymple School and the construction of a new 36-unit condominium building on the site, has already made some changes to the initial construction proposal, which are expected to make the development more palatable to some in town.

I think it is great that you are putting the Winthrop Transcript out on the internet. I really enjoy seeing the pictures in color!
Navigating the PDF files is not a very user friendly experience. Particularly when named things like Page 1, Page 6 etc. If you must post PDF files could you not chop them down into individual articles with proper titles?
If the problem is that it is too labor intensive, posting the articles in plain text would be better. While we all love the photos - we can purcase the hardcopy of the paper to see those.
Plus posting text of the articles instead of PDF files means your content will be picked up by the search spiders and should drive more traffic to the site. If your ultimate plan is to add ads like Google Adsense that would be a great revenue source.
FYI - having a "Contact Us" or other email link posted would be helpful for folks to provide feedback other than in the comment section.
As a working citizen who has lived in Winthrop now for 48 years, I am really concerned about the development in Winthrop. Between Atlantis Marina(YUCK), Crystal Cove, (not yet built), the hospital, (not yet built), and now the Dalrymple School, we will never be able to get out of town... Reality is, middle and high-income people are working people, all trying to get out of town at the same time. With the (stupid) Dunkin Donuts tying up traffic, and the normal traffic now, it takes a good 15 minutes to get to the heights, and I only live on Marshall Street.
Everyone keeps talking about revenue...what happened to the revenue Seal Harbor and Fort Heath?
Why can't we just do something to our town that would invite people in to enjoy it, (like get the beach project going),(make the center area a place people will want to come and see); in other words, make Winthrop a destination for people to visit, rather than overcrowd it with condominiums. I think, that since the Dalrymple school has always been a school for which (WE), the Winthrop Taxpayers paid for, the building should go back to the taxpayers as senior apartments. After all, I believe it was the seniors who paid for it.
I know it sounds like I am rambling, but I have been thinking about this for a long time, and really hate what Winthrop is becoming....
Someone better start now thinking about the roads in and out of Winthrop if all these condos happen.
Let me tell you the developers answer to the traffic situation; and I got this first hand "If you find the traffic a problem getting out of town, leave a half-hour earlier". How dare this person (who doesn’t even live in Winthrop), tell me what to do with my time, especially my mornings.
